Child Safety Standards

Last updated: June 12, 2026

1. Our Commitment

Sonder (“we,” “our,” or “us”) has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). We are committed to preventing, detecting, and reporting any content or conduct that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers children. These standards describe how we protect against child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and other forms of child exploitation on our platform.

2. Adults-Only Platform

  • Sonder is strictly limited to adults aged 18 and over. The use of our service by anyone under the age of 18 is prohibited.
  • We do not knowingly allow minors to create accounts or use the app. Any account found to belong to a person under 18 will be terminated immediately.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

3. Prohibited Content and Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on Sonder:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including images, videos, text, or links.
  • The sexualization of minors, grooming, enticement, or any attempt to facilitate contact with a child for sexual purposes.
  • Sharing, soliciting, or promoting content that sexually exploits or endangers children.
  • Any attempt by a minor to misrepresent their age in order to access the service.

4. Prevention and Detection

  • Automated image moderation. Every photo uploaded to Sonder is automatically scanned for explicit and sexual content using machine-learning content moderation. Images that are flagged are blocked from being uploaded.
  • In-app reporting and blocking tools that allow users to report profiles, chats, and messages of concern, and to block other users.
  • Human review of reported content. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, typically within 48 hours, and any material that violates these standards is removed.
  • Enforcement actions including content removal, permanent account termination, and device-level bans for violations.
  • Account requirements designed to keep minors off the platform, including a date-of-birth requirement and an 18-and-over policy.

5. Reporting and Response to CSAE

  • We act on reports of CSAE promptly. Confirmed CSAM is removed and the responsible accounts are permanently banned.
  • Where we become aware of apparent child sexual abuse material, we report it to the relevant authorities and recognized child-safety organizations, such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), in accordance with applicable law.
  • We cooperate with law enforcement and recognized child-safety organizations in their investigations.
  • We preserve relevant evidence as required by law to support investigations.

6. How to Report a Concern

If you encounter content or behavior that may involve the sexual abuse or exploitation of a child, report it immediately:

  • Use the in-app reporting and blocking tools to flag the profile, message, or content.
  • Email our child-safety contact at hi@findsonder.app.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. You can also report directly to NCMEC's CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org, or, in the UK, to the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) at report.iwf.org.uk.
